VISION

Intensifying Experience Exchange

Once a physician has attended a " Salzburg medical seminar" and he or she is eligible to apply for a one-month- observership in their medical speciality. Physicians now become "Observers". Through multiple observership opportunities fellows may repeatedly update their clinical and managerial skills as well as solidify their relationship with their Viennese mentors and academic institutions.

In order to intensify postgraduate medical education and the exchange of experiences the City of Vienna opened its municipal hospitals which are run by the VHA for physicians from around the world for one to three-month study visits (observerships).

Vienna as a medical center

The prime goal of the Vienna Open Medical Institute is to position Vienna as a medical center of excellence in the heart of Europe offering education and expertise to physicians and healthcare professionals from countries in transition. To intensify the exchange of experiences, the Vienna Hospitals will provide up to 200 additional places for observers (English-speaking physicians and healthcare professionals from all over the world) per year.

This initiative will support the role of the Vienna as the European centre of knowledge transfer and experience exchange in medicine.
